BioSystems developed the iMLD fluorescence microscope, based on a high power solid-state light- emitting diode (LED) at (470 – 480 nm), to replace the traditional lamps of mercury (very expensive, dangerous) or Xenon (more expensive) used in epi-fluorescence microscopy. The LED’s long lifetime (approx. 50,000) hours results in a cost effective instrument, with enhanced lifetime and reduced maintenance. The iMLD comes with 3 objectives: 10X , 20X, and 40x.
